Proposal: Ipswich/Beaudesert Rds to UQ Lakes route

Currently, there is no particularly nice way to make this trip.  From the 100/110/115 you need to get off at the PA hospital express stop, walk approx. 400m then board a UQ bound bus at PAH busway station.  The walk is a bit shorter from 113/117/124/125 all stopper services.

I don't see any need for any change in the 100 corridor - those beyond the Ipswich Mwy can use a rail feeder then a bus to UQ Chancellors Pl, and those near Moorooka station/stop can just use the train.

I suggest a short tripper route in peak from somewhere around Nyanda (Beaudesert Rd) to UQ Lakes, serving all stops.

Hmm you could say that about most routes though, does this corridor need a dedicated UQ service?

How many people currently make such a transfer?

Most people have a relatively easy transfer at Buranda or Griffith Uni.  Even Logan Rd can use the 170/180 to effect that.

Ipswich Rd is really the only corridor south of Old Cleveland Rd which has it so bad.

Not sure how many people though.

A 400m transfer is fine!

If that's the only problem, then I don't support this. Transferring from Ipswich Rd at PAH is fine, you don't need a direct route. UQ Lakes is already having capacity issues from the number of buses using it, why up that with another route?

Why not just do an extra express stop closer to the Busway station.
You'd do it if it were a railway station!

I don't see it as a crime to stop express routes, if the stop is actually useful.

The 'Okeefe St' stop ( http://g.co/maps/t4tjq ) is 130m to the busway lift shaft. Easy transfer.

KISS!

That's about all it is between Indooroopilly rail and Indooroopilly shops, and it's not really considered "fine".

Although I can accept that there are bigger fish to fry.

Yeah but indro has stairs out of the station and a big hill to climb.

This just has stairs, to the busway platform.

They aren't comparable in a fair manner.

I'd also add that uni students are willing to do more to save money. While a 400m walk may turn a lazy office worker back to his or her car, students tend to avoid them as we can't afford them/would rather spend the money at the pub.

I would be doing my transferring at the Gabba.  Much easier with all those 29s coming on stream shortly.

I do agree the stops around the PAH need to be looked at.  Very poor arrangements all around the whole matrix of the PAH station/77 stop/yellow stops/express stops/475 and 476 terminus.

I wouldn't.  In spite of the walk, even from a 100/110/115 I'd think the walking time would be less than the additional travelling time, and you can use other routes at PAH so you are also saving waiting time.  Perhaps if you are already on a 29 heading away from UQ I might consider it, but even then.

I'm lazy though.  I will purposely wait for a 184/185/210/212 at the Cultural Centre to save on walking time to my office (especially when it is raining)...  :)

It's beyond Edward St then, or you could use some other routes.
