Yeah, with TTs post Simon.

Honestly, what's the point of introducing GoCards to improve boarding times if the passenger still has to wait the same amount of time for someone to apply credit to their GoCard. Might have aswell just have left the magnetic strip cards and not introduced gocards. These days there is little excuse for having lack of credit on your card. Each time the card is used the amount available is shown. If someone doesn't look at it then tough luck for not taking 1 second to have a quick look. There's online top ups. There's automatic online top ups for when you get low on credit. If you frequently go to the city then there's absolutly no excuse for having no/lack of credit. If you transfer to a train no excuse. Transfer at an interchange no excuse. If you use it to go to the shops its likely there will be a newsagency with top up options there.

Disagree.

There seems to be a culture which says that it is unacceptable to expect someone to pay.  I still don't have my head around it.

My vote, had I voted prior to closure, would have been for an option of 'on all routes'.

If you add up the votes for some combined option of onboard that would be 8/11 votes, ~72%.

Other operators manage. It's not really a top up only for one trip... presumably the current $20 max top up in $5 increments would apply to BT too... or you could have a minimum $10 top up... so even for full fare paying adults that is more than 3 journeys... it is not each time someone gets on the bus! and not everyone would do it at the same time... ie old weeklies used to mostly be issued on Monday's right (via upgrade option for those on buses where they'd buy a single inbound on Monday and upgrade it in the Mall to a weekly... cash transactions were all Mondays... with Go it would be spread).

If you really wanted to you could blanket ban inbound peak top ups... but I don't think this would be necessary as many already have autotopup or the like, and most people will not want to top up on the bus, it's just for when they need to, ie when they get caught out!

To pay for what?

And what post/comment are you replying to here?

You can't count those that think it should only be allowed on selected routes.  Really these people (3/11) are voting against top ups on other routes.

Partly to your comment "Charge ups need to be able to be done on BT buses, it is that simple!" which I fully endorse, but more to the whole poll result.  It seems that the notion of a charge to do a top up on a bus is not supported.  There needs to be a disincentive IMO, just like there is a disincentive for using paper tickets.

Gazza

I think just a minimum load amount to limit the number of transactions physically possible.

HappyTrainGuy

Maybe there should have been an option for no top ups on buses.

Perhaps there should have, but I never considered that anyone would think that.

Perhaps, but I think it was a leading poll.
