QuoteBrisbane Cross City Metro - Portside to Indooroopilly
In 2007, the Lord Mayor's Taskforce Investigation (LMTFI) identified three inner city metro lines (University, Hospital and Sports Lines) as shallow tunnel, "tube" style shuttle services.

Oh my gawd...

I just cannot believe something like this was proposed. $4 Billion for a metro going from Portside to Indooroopilly to Uni (which already has a busway to it).

STOP!!!

This is concrete fetish at its worst! Any metro must first proceed down the SE Busway so that buses can be released to run feeder services to busway stations and have high frequency in the suburbs. There is already a FOUR TRACK RAILWAY to Ipswich with lots of capacity. For heaven's sake we are going to have a four track railway plus a western busway plus buses on coronation drive plus a metro - OVERKILL!!!

Put on a BUZ 400 - problem solved!

The spur line configuration will be required to share platform space through the network core of CBD stations and consequently this service will struggle to achieve attractive frequencies of service.

Agreed!

They say busway or light rail, however one has to deal with peak hour capacities. A shuttle heavy rail service might be better IMHO.
It would be interesting to see what interchange penalty values Queensland Transport / DTMR used given the discussion on such penalties
within Jarrett Walker's Human Transit Book.

Was google broken TT lol?

Pg 41 has all the priorites over the next few years.

I do like that it puts Redbank plains to Springfield rail ahead of Ipsiwch to Redbank plains...Seems a more logical way to use the route.

I do also see it as a positive that it puts all dupilcations (Coomera, Cleveland by Default, Kingston) etc as priorities for the next 5 years. Thats the way it should be.

Flagstone would happen within 10 years.

Sounds like they contradict themselves.  This is another reason FOR Cross River Rail and not some half-baked switch-Ferny-Grove-to-Cleveland-to-light-rail idea.

Can this topic deal with the report that came out today?

P36. $300 mil Proposal to run a DMU service to Flagstone as a shuttle to Salisbury, with island platform stations at Parkinson, Boronia Heights and Flagstone Central, but oddly not at Browns Plains.

I thought this thread was for the SEQ Mayors Report, not the one that came out today, that is a  GHD report.

That discussion is under Cross River Rail ...
