new maintainence/stabling facility at Wulkuraka).
I heard there was to be no stabling here.

The argument for Redbank was apparently that it would be better sited to provide rolling stock for the Springfield line services.
Ha ha!

There is no triangle at Darra for such trains.  Clapham would be better sited.

Makes you wonder if a board member had an associate working on the Redbank project.

What I meant is no stabling for operational purposes.

To start a service at Springfield Central with a train stored at Redbank, the driver would need to change ends at Darra to get the train back to Springfield Central. Wouldn't Springfield Line services be far better serviced by stabling near it's terminus at Springfield Central?

Surely, the Redbank stabling yard has been built primarily for future services that originate or terminate at Redbank. It can also supplement the Ipswich stabling yard for services to/from Ipswich.

Cam, this is such a good point. I wonder, could it really be ... they are going to build a line with NO STABLING at the end of it?
I will laugh my head off if it turns out to be true...

Maybe someone could ask..
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

Why not?  Ferny Grove line has no stabling.  Shorncliffe doesn't use its stabling capability.  Cleveland line has pathetic stabling.  There is no line with enough stabling for its needs actually.

I'm pretty sure it was always going to be a maintainence and stabling facility to improve the maintainence schedule for minor/small fixes that don't require it to be taken out of service and turnaround times between servicing sets which is what is currently done at Mayne.

Remember the faries at the bottom of George Street tell us that the Springfield line is the first stage of a loop line that will run through Ripley and Yamanto and loop back on to the Ipswich line at West Ipswich in 2031/2051/2091    ::)   :-w  :conf   :dntk

Set in train

Highlights:

1. P88 service, almost at car replacement speed to the city off peak (definitely so in peak)
2. Signing up as a member of this forum.
3. Attending the Monday night meeting at Central a few weeks ago.

Lowlights:

1. Fare increases, this is public transport, funded by the government, not the passenger who should pay a nominal fee.
