Extend 444 bus service to Moggill District Sports Park

QuoteQueensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to extend the 444 Translink Bus Service to the newly-opened Moggill District Sports Park.

As the Labor Minister for Transport and Main Roads has acknowledged, the new Sports Park "will become an attractor for the suburb", as it caters year-round to residents, sporting clubs and local schools, with four tennis and netball courts, two AFL fields and two cricket pitches.

Despite this, the 444 bus service has not been extended.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to extend the 444 Translink Bus Service from its current "Moggill Terminus" to the now-open Moggill District Sports Park at 3660 Moggill Road, Moggill, for a trial period of six months, at which time it can be reviewed.

^^It will be a while before any bridge is built to Riverview or Riverhills. I signed it anyway, see what happens?

Unfortunately that will most likely be the case. Realistically you would need to upgrade Moggill Rd to 4 lanes all the way to Kenmore because I think a lot of Centenary Mwy traffic will bail and go on the new bridge. Perhaps a Riverhills bridge would work better because after an upgraded Sumners Rd bridge, it would make getting to Darra station a lot easier and probably make it a comparable option.

Agreed Andrew. However the NIMBYs will run supreme until the YIMBYs get control ...

This is one transport solution that stands out like dog testes ...

I wouldn't even talk about a Riverview bridge, it's politically untenable. Riverhills to Bellbowrie makes sense though.

Not really, as we've seen with the rise of the Greens and NIMBYism in the inner-city areas, NIMBYism is not a left-right thing, it is a "how do I get votes" thing.

I think a Riverhills bridge would be much better. A Riverview bridge would become an alternate to the M5, and you'd end up with a lot more people using Moggill Road through here, adding more traffic and posing a road safety issue (Moggill Road past Kenmore is not of the best quality).
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

Build a bridge from Riverview to Moggill and toll it. Would discourage through-running but still be cheaper for those who have a genuine need to cross there rather than taking the long way around. Riverhills bridge can be green (bus/active transport only).
