SEQ: BUZ the 100!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has called for a BUZ 100 bus service, and bus priority treatments on Ipswich Road (1).

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"A BUZ 100 bus service will greatly simplify transport along the Ipswich Road corridor and make Woolloongabba, Forest Lake, Inala and Ipswich Road bus services more usable and legible."

"The BUZ initiative has been spectacularly successful and should be expanded so that major trunk arterial routes have a fast, high frequency public transport service (2). The Ipswich Road corridor is currently a major gap in the BUZ network."

"A BUZ 100 bus service could also be routed to travel down Beaudesert Road and Granard Road to service Moorooka's busy suburban centre, Bunnings Rocklea and Bunnings Oxley before using the Ipswich Motorway to service Inala and Forest Lake."

"Pedestrian treatments at Salisbury station are probably required so that people on foot may connect easily with Salisbury train station."

"Bus priority treatments such as bus or T2 lanes on Ipswich Road and priority at intersections should also be considered to prevent bus services becoming stuck in Ipswich Road congestion."

Turn up and go on the high frequency route 100

Say hello to the new and improved route 100 - TransLink's first high frequency bus for the south-west to travel along Ipswich Road!

From Monday 31 October, in addition to the usual 10 minute peak service, there'll be a route 100 every 15 minutes off-peak as well, from 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.

If you live in or around Inala, Forest Lake, Oxley or Moorooka and you're looking for a no hassle trip in and out of the city, route 100 is the one for you - by travelling via Ipswich Road into the South East Busway at Woolloongabba, you avoid all the congestion on Coronoation Drive for a smooth trip in and out of the city.

And if you live along Durella Street, Glenala Road or Blunder Road in Durack, you'll now have access to a route 100 service every 15 minutes or less, even on the weekend!

You'll also find it quick and easier to get to and from school or uni at South Bank - route 100 stops at both South Bank and Mater Hill busway stations and there'll be a bus every 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon peak.

Route 100 also stops at the Cultural Centre which allows connections to services going north, south, east and west!

No need to check a timetable, with a bus every 15 minutes, you can just turn up and go on the high frequency route 100.

The Minister for Transport has today announced in Parliament this BUZ upgrade.

I met the Minister at Forest Lake this morning, prior to the Minister travelling to the CBD on the 100 bus.

Whilst waiting bus 1000 departed (9.20am) on a 100.  The Minister travelled on the 9.50am service.
