I was poking around the most recent update of the mapping on www.nearmap.com.au and it occurred to me that there is currently one or more suburban electric rail extensions under construction in each of the big 5 cities, and works on each of them are visible in NearMap. (Yes, all electric - the Adelaide extension to Seaford is being built as an electrified line from the outset).

So, here's a round up of the suburban heavy rail extensions around the country.

Queensland: Richlands to Springfield Rail Extension.  Mapping: click here. (Early works toward the Logan Motorway, including completed bridges.  The widening of the right of way for the future Ellen Grove station is also visible).

New South Wales: South West Rail Link.  Mapping: click here.  (Grade separation at the Glenfield junctions under construction. Note: some of this is the dedicated freight line as well).  No progress on the actual branch line yet visible.

Victoria: South Morang Rail Extension.  Mapping: click here.

Victoria: Sunbury Rail Electrification.  Mapping: click here. (Digger's Rest station under reconstruction, electrification masts going up).

South Australia: Seaford Rail Extension.  Mapping: click here. (Very long bridge under construction).

Western Australia: Butler Rail Extension.  Mapping: click here.

Queensland also has the Ferny Grove - Keperra Duplication. Not an extension but can still be seen from Nearmap.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Come to think of it, the Lilyfield to Dulwich Hill light rail works in Sydney are visible as well. If you click back to earlier views you can watch its transformation from run down freight line to newly relaid track on concrete sleepers, ready for re-electrification at 750V DC.
