Bus travellers get a tasty reward

QuoteBus travellers get a tasty reward

Residents who choose to travel to the new Noosa Junction Station by bus may be given a tasty reward in the form of a free coffee voucher.

For two weeks from Sunday 28 August, Sunshine Coast Council will be handing out vouchers to use at one of the 14 local coffee shops in The Junction.

Division 11 Councillor Russell Green said commuters will be rewarded for using a sustainable mode of transport.

"I've been working with council to organise this reward to encourage people to travel to The Junction by bus," Cr Green said.

"Council will be handing out 1400 free vouchers to be used at the 14 coffee shops in The Junction.

"The vouchers will be handed out during the Noosa Junction Station community open day on Sunday 28 August, and for the following two weeks, by council staff wearing white t-shirts and caps with the Noosa Junction logo on it.

"Staff will meet the buses at the new Noosa Junction Station at various time slots throughout the day to hand vouchers to people arriving and departing by bus.

"So if you're tossing up whether to travel to The Junction by bus or car, I encourage you to choose the sustainable option because you have a pretty high chance to receiving a free coffee voucher for one of the local coffee shops."
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Getting Noosa-ites out of their BMW's, SUV's and 4WD's is always going to be a challenge.

Given the level of rates the SCRC charges, I will be asking for two cups of low-cal, decaf, extra whip soy cappucinno with extra dash.  Hopefully, I will be able to catch the bus there.

I note that the new (trial only) 623 bus service from Nambour to Coolum and return, on the Sunshine Coast is FULLY funded by the transport levy we pay in our Sunshine Coast Regional Council (SCRC) rates.

I think stuff like this is only good as promotion fodder.
The best reward is frequency, decent onward connections, speed and a good span of hours- decent mobility in short.

If you have to resort to gimmicks/motherhood statements to get people to catch PT then you're implicitly acknowledging that it's just not good enough...

Free low-fat 'low-frequency' muffin anyone?
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.
