Definitely agree on the 136.  I'd also add that a Warrigal Rd & SEB City Precincts services could work.

Not so sure about the 162 though.  Removing that from the city centre means there isn't a real rocket service from 8 mile plains except the 118.

I am loathe to suggest yet another route, but agree that a SEB all stops city precincts would be worthwhile and well patronised.

Would P157 as a City Precincts work for Warrigal Rd?  I don't see the point of BOTH the 156 and P157 serving relatively the same CBD area (ie QSBS/Adelaide St) (other than merely having a rocket service in the QSBS).  It'd be interesting to compare the loads on those 2 and their respective trip generators.

Yes, one of the 156/P157 would have to become the City Precincts service (perhaps renumbered).  If the P157, then the 156 should go to QSBS in the PM.

I wonder if we just simply get rid of all rockets from Adelaide Street altogether?

Clearly, rockets serve a different market to the BUZ and all-stops routes, so why aren't these peak-hour routes just all doing the "City Precincts" thing via Eagle Street/Parliament to get workers directly to and from the part of the city most of their usual passengers inhabit?

I think that would be going to far.  There are a few rockets which would be logical to use Adelaide St - 431, 382, 383 can't think of any others right now.

I'm in two minds about the "greater city precincts" concept.  Whenever I have noticed these routes they have had few people on them, but perhaps there is a solution?

From my experience, the 206 can be packed.  The 207 has helped with that though.

I think southside City Precincts serve a useful purpose (not sure about western/northern routes as they don't get direct access to the freeway/busway).  I think the problem is the operating hours.  Rather than being 4pm - 6pm, I think they should be 4.30pm to 7pm.  That would then cater for both the support staff from all the high rises who mostly finish at 5pm as well as the corporates who finish (at the earliest) between 6pm and 7pm.  What times have you noticed the City Precincts to be quiet?

I think that western/northern rockets have a place in Adelaide St, my gripe is the southern rockets when the QSBS/KGBS are so close with such frequent services.  It can be painful sitting in traffic on Adelaide St and then North Quay/William St on a supposed "rocket".  I do wonder whether the rocket stop right outside the BCC admin building would have anything to do with it?  ;D

South and east side "city precincts" customers could be served more effectively by building a pedestrian bridge to Kangaroo Point from corner Alice and Edward Sts and having routes terminate in the Valley but serve a new KP bus station. It would be about the same walk to the new station as to QSBS from "city precincts".

Interesting about the P206.

The other interesting thing is that none of the northern rockets actually use Adelaide St as far as I am aware.

It might at that.  Although it is much easier to blame **** than malice here.

Interesting concept!  It should be noted that a number of Storey bridge rockets use Elizabeth St in the PM anyway, so serve this part of town effectively in the PM, and could serve it more effectively in the AM if there was a will to do so.

I'm off to test the 331 City to Bracken Ridge Rocket tonight ... let's hope it isn't overcrowded.   :-r

Hello Simon,

I did find it, and it was great. (P331 Bus, City to Bracken Ridge).
It arrived on time, passenger loading at 5:07pm from the cnr. of Wharf Street and Turbot Street was light, exactly half full.
Busway was a breeze, all the go card touch-ons, touch-offs went off without a hitch.  :-t

Bus drivers all friendly and courteous.  :-t

In summary, a credit to their employers, TRANSLink and the public.

Case in point for this one: 130

In the AM peak, this runs every 10 minutes (not counting the 6 short workings which I say should be P137s)

In the PM peak, this runs every 5 minutes from 15:32 to 16:32, then no worse than 8 minutes until 18:10.  There are also 4 Cultural Centre starters.

Obviously the rocket services (129, 131, 137, 133) are far more effective in the AM peak than the PM.
