In an ideal world, some crews in the AM would start in Robina, park their trains in Mayne and then relieve crews which started at Mayne, probably at Bowen Hills.  And reverse this in the PM peak.  Does it actually work that way?  The alternative might be to "deadhead" back to Robina.

Pretty much what happens now. AFAIK, there are no empty trains to/from Gold Coast for peak movements. They all come from/go to Robina stabling (or continue on track on revenue services, of course).
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.

There was regularly a 3-car IMU heading through South Bank out of service in the am peak until recently - couldn't say whether this is/was a Gold Coast movement though.
