Have your say on regional rail

People in regional Queensland can have their say on what they think about the rail network at a series of half yearly Community Reference Group meetings.

Transport Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said the meetings were about giving all Queenslanders the chance to share their views on rail in their region.

Ms Palaszczuk said nominations were now open for meetings in Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay, with Rockhampton, Cairns, Townsville, Gladstone, Longreach, Emerald and Charleville to follow next year.

"These meetings are a great opportunity to have your say on issues and initiatives that matter to you," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"I encourage anyone who is interested in making our rail system better to get along to one of the meetings and have their say.

"This is an opportunity to speak directly with Queensland Rail about the topics that interest you.

"QR's customer charter highlights the need to listen to people and this is another way we are seeking feedback to help make services even better."

Ms Palaszczuk said the program provided an opportunity to learn more about long distance services and to discuss rail services in their region.

"Anything from services and infrastructure to products, facilities and communication is up for discussion," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"Simply register by email or phone, and come along to the six-monthly meetings.

"We want to hear what Queenslanders have to say and this is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas with us."

To register, pick up a nomination form from your local Queensland Rail Travel Centre, register by phone (07) 3235 1516 or download a nomination form at http://queenslandrail.com.au
