Think it's time for a mediating body to step in, this is getting ridiculous  ::)

QuoteNo Sunshine Coast Sunbus bus services will operate on Friday 29 July due to industrial action.

All 28 Sunbus services will be affected and major transport disruptions are anticipated for Sunshine Coast passengers.

Services will resume as scheduled on Saturday 30 July.

Please check this website regularly or call TransLink on 13 12 30 for updates before travelling.

Bus industrial issues

Greetings,

Another day of bus disruptions looming for the Sunshine Coast  on the 29th July 2011 --> http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-updates/bulletin/1311646906

Recent disruptions for school students and others haven't been helpful at all.

Any chance of some mediation occurring to help avoid the impacts on the travelling public?  Many people have no other option than the bus.

Thanks.

Best wishes
Robert

The mutterings I have heard indicate that this is likely to spread.  TransLink is not going to be able to ignore this problem.

The fundamental issue seems to be two-fold:

1. Extremely poor working environment conditions outside the BCC network (eg no dedicated driver facilities except at very limited locations, no after-hours toilet access or hand-wash, etc); and

2. Varying rates of pay for what is identical work (ie driving TransLink revenue services).
