Extend 139 to Parkinson?

Happy Bus User has been approached by various sources with the idea of extending the 139 to Parkinson to the 130 terminus due to overcrowding on the 130 for UQ students. Perhaps such a route could be pick up only until say, Buranda or PA hospital I/B and drop off only everywhere after Buranda or PA?

I do like the idea of extending the route if theres overcrowding on the 130, etc. However, not a fan of the pick up only and drop off only ideas. It makes it a restricted service. I mean, if the bus is running, and you want to get from Parkinson to somewhere on Mains Rd, it shouldn't matter which route. Also, what about the masses who interchange between rail and bus at Boggo Rd? They shouldn't be able to catch the 139?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I would also say no to pick up/set down restrictions.

What is the problem with interchange at Pinelands or Hellawell, where you can pick up all the Rocket services also, which have no doubt emptied out some by the time they have reached that stop?

Heading I/B, you may stay on the bus until Griffith Uni to pick up the 169 as well as the 139.  I'm not sure about that one.

Can't have a single seat to everywhere.  There has to be some interchange.

I'd agree that you can't have a single seat journey to everywhere, however route 139 is meant to be the route for the 130 corridor that goes to UQ. If there is demand for this service to be extended that is meaning other buses in the corridor can't pick up other passengers then I would be all for it. It's not like we're asking for a whole new UQ route here.

I don't think that really answers why the 139 needs to be extended, especially in the PM.  Perhaps in the AM you get UQ bound pax taking up seats on the 130/rockets and it would be better to have these on the 139?

Thats my logic for the AM peak. PM peak may not necessarily be needed, but looking at it from a dead running perspective, having the 130/139 terminate at the same spot would possibly reduce it, depending on how the runs are scheduled.

The dead running perspective really only works if there is a Larapinta depot.  Given that is closing/has already closed, I don't see it, unless a new depot opens in the area to replace it.

I'd say selected trips in the AM peak only, if anything.

I didn't mean dead running back to depot, but between routes. Thats one of the reasons I like the route 29 idea, it lets (some) buses avoid dead running between UQ Lakes and the Gabba (ie: the triaxials/artics that run on both 66 and 109/139/169)
