The last main line steam locomotive to built in Australia is 50 years old today.

Queensland Railway Class BB18? 4-6-2 Number 1089
Number 1089 was built in Maryborough by Walkers Ltd. in March, 1958 (construction number 557). 1089 was the last main-line steam locomotive built in Australia.
1089 was officially allocated to the Mayne depot but also worked for a period at the Willowburn depot in Toowoomba in 1968 and at Mackay during the sugar seasons.

Still running, ran the steam excursions around Brisbane last weekend.
