It has been mentioned a few times on this board about partial duplications on the Sunshine Coast line.

The trouble with the Beerburrum to Glass House Mountains + Mooloolah to Palmwoods duplications is that they leave a 16 minute single track section.  That is good enough to prevent a half hourly frequency without a precision cross, and wouldn't the point of doing all this work be to eliminate such things?  That would leave having a half hourly service to Landsborough with an hourly service beyond.

Nothing is perfect but this intrim arrangement gives the greatest benefit, nothing is perfect, the 16 minute section can be shortened by an additional two km of duplication which on the realigned alignment would reduce the running time for that section to 14 minutes.
The key point being that it is not going to happen overnight and there has to be a starting point.
This proposal is simply a starting point.
