SEQ: Time for change, new train timetables early June

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has highlighted the need for a pro-active information campaign for public transport commuters with respect to the train and bus timetable changes occurring from the 6th June 2011.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"A major change with train timetables is to occur on the 6th June on the Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Ipswich, Rosewood and Richlands lines, with changes to some connecting bus times and minor changes to some other rail services (1)."

"Metro trains Melbourne recently had major timetable changes and they set up a dedicated web site to explain fully the impacts for their passengers (2). This is an excellent example of a proper change management tool for public transport."

"With major timetables changes there are always winners and losers to a certain extent.  It does help if the changes are properly explained and the rationale of the changes detailed. Both these aspects are on board a late train at the moment."

"TransLink should consider stepping up an information campaign so that public transport commuters are on board and don't miss the train or bus! Time is running out."
