Hello,

In an ABC radio interview with Toni Carroll and Andrew Powell MP, member for Glass House, held on 17 March, 2011 at Glasshouse Mountains Station
The Hon. Minister responded firstly by saying that there was some misinformation there.
I believe this was in response to my pre-recorded lead-in comments regarding the subsidisation of the network.

Further, the current Transport Minister has stated that every cent of fares will go back into service improvements.
This is true, however the former Transport Minister, Rachel Nolan stated on 15 October 2009;

"the fare strategy also aimed to return the State Government's per-trip subsidy from 75 per cent back to 70 per cent
within five years. To help reach that goal fares will increase 15% a year from 2011 to 2014 – or around 40 cents to 60 cents a year for a typical
two-zone ticket."
.

What they are NOT saying is this ...
It can only mean that the government will be reducing their comparative contribution (compared to the 15% commuter fare increases) to public transport over this time.
Don't get me wrong, the government contributions will increase - but just not at the same rate as the 15% fare hikes.
Was the former Transport Minister's statement true or has this situation changed ?
How does the new Transport Minister explain this situation ?

These are the tough questions that require an answer.

Golliwog

Ummmm, I thought that was still the goal and always kind of had been?
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Fares_Fair

that's what I thought, so why don't they say so ?
and why did the Minister call it misinformation ?
