Adelaide St bus stops

So I mentioned in another thread that I thought Adelaide St has too many bus stops, and figured I'd put up my proposal and see what you think. This is only for the King George Square side of the street, and only between the 109 bus stop and Anzac square.

Merge stops 17 and 18, with the lead bus stopping at the current stop 18 spot
Stops 19 and 20 can stay as they are (these are alongside city hall)
Stops 21 and 22 (just past KGS) should be merged and use the current stop 22 spot
Stop 23 should be moved a little closer to KGS
Stop 24 should remain (its the one just before Edward St)
Stop 25 and 26 should be merged (these are the stops just before the Anzac square car park ramp) and should use the stop 26 spot.

The logic being that with some of hte stops being positioned close together you have problems with a bus already being at the rear stop and a bus having trouble trying to get to the stop infront ending up with that bus hanging out into the lane which usually causes traffic.

I would propose something similar  for the opposite side of the road.

Oh and I also think at the same time they should draw up a map of say a 1 or 2 block radius from each bus stop, and mark all the bus stops in that area and beneath it have a list of all those bus stops, and under each bus stop list what routes stop at it, and where they go. eg:

Stop 20 Adelaide Street
   - City Glider: Teneriffe Ferry via Wickham St
   - 199 BUZ: Teneriffe Ferry via Brunswick St
   - ...

Stop 16 Adelaide Street
   - 412 BUZ: St Lucia via Toowong and UQ
   - 109: UQ Lakes via Busway

etc etc.

All they would need would be either an extra blade post or to permanently takeover one of the advertising boards in the shelters and make a big poster.

I agree, and there also needs to be a greater levels of service between Adelaide St between Central and the Cultural Centre.  Only a few services stop on Adelaide St between Edward and Creek Sts.

BrizCommuter's issue with Adelaide St bus stops is the lack of signage telling commuters which buses go from which bus stop. Such simple information is par for the course in London.

I also am very critical of this.  I am sure it would be par for the course in almost any city.  You can add Sydney to the list, even though I am critical that arrangements there do not go far enough, at least it is possible to find such signage.

I remember London well for that. You knew what routes went from where you were to where you wanted to be, but weren't always sure where the stop was, but once you found one there was a map of the area with nearby bus stops marked and what routes stopped there. Thats pretty much what I was basing some of this on.
