There is a front page story in todays The Australian regarding freight haulers, including a Federal plan to eliminate bottlenecks and separate freight and passenger services.

Good news for my campaign !

But note that most discussion is about building new roads for trucks and opening existing roads to B-triples etc. We'll have to wait to see whether this is good news for rail or just another sink for national savings into roads. I'm almost the perfect cynic when it comes to public policy, so I bet nothing significant for rail out of all this.  :pr

Thanks SW,

True, not counting any chickens just yet ... but the timing is interesting.

If B-triples are allowed on our urban freeways then accidents will sky rocket and congestion will not be fixed one bit. Oh well another submission to write...least I can leveragethe others.
