Seems pretty unclear what they are planning regarding buses.  A new bus set down?  Is this just a move of stop 24 towards Moggill Rd?

Quoteadditional bus setdown areas created in
Musgrave Road to increase the capacity
of the existing bus interchange,

In other words, nothing much is changing.. Will still be cramped in the existing/pickup area..  :thsdo

New (Queen St style) underground bus terminal opportunity?

Got a spare $200 million plus and will the shopping centre be willing to lose some of their belowground parking spaces if it were to be constructed under the shopping centre.
Theory good but doubtfull that anyone will want to pay for it.

Why don't buses go through Indooroopilly like this? Would solve the Bus/Rail interchange issue, and a bit more direct:
Just establish bays on each side of Station Road, build a busway style bridge, and then let the center owners have the old bus station site for development in return for building all this.

Outbound, I have certainly seen buses do what you are suggesting and run up, I think it is Finney Rd?  Only the 433/445 can't go this way.

But if you are going to all that trouble, you could think about something at the Myer end of Indro shops.  You could also think about a bus/rail interchange which is really the major reason why you would want to bother with messing with the arrangements.

I expect it will stay as it is for quite a while.

Isn't this exactly what I've done?
The current arrangement most routes 400 series routes come in from Moggil Rd, along Musgrave and then back out to Moggil Rd via the northern bit of station Road.
The problem is, if you want to interchange from Train to Bus or vice versa it's a 400m walk uphill between the station and the interchange.

With my proposed arrangement all inbound buses go Woodville St, Finney Rd, southern bit of Station Rd, Westminster Rd, Coonan St, Moggil Rd.
Reverse this for outbound.

This creates a simple bus rail interchange method...If you are inbound want the train for instance, you stay on for one extra stop and just jump off at Coonan St in front of Coles!

Why is that area significant? There only needs to be one interchange right?

You would normally have the buses terminating if it were a bus/rail interchange.  I didn't see that in your proposal.

As for the Myer end, that could be better as it would be less of a deviation for the buses.  Although the current arrangements would suit the centre fine, so I don't see why they'd be at all interested in helping save some through passengers' time.

They can terminate though. If each stop/interchange thingy is built as an overpass (that is the plan that I'm reading there right?), it wouldn't be hard to tack on a bus turnaround just past each stop (like what the have at the QUT Kelvin Grove busway station).
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Indeed,
But terminators could just whip around the block, without the need for a turnaround to be built (Think what the 402 does when it gets to Toowong)
They would come down Station Rd, then Westminster, Then Coonan St (Where the bus stop would be for terminators), then back into station Rd.

The issue with a Myer end interchange is that it becomes a 900m walk between bus and train.

Again, the problem I'm solving is how to get the indro bus routes closer to the station without spending too much.

The way I see it, the current method for getting in and out of Indro is a bit too messy.I did some measurements, and my new route would be slightly shorter.

Stand by, Ill do some diagrams of how it could work.

It is not a pleasant interchange IMHO, but could work. Ideally a proper interchange would be built, especially given the volume of pax and potential bad weather. The buses may need to idle and layover somewhere too.

An interchange on Lambert Rd/Indro Subway is still worth looking at IMHO. A bus stop could go at Coonan St of course.

So here's a first stab, it would work in with my other bus proposals for the area. The routing of the buses near the station is pretty flexible I guess.
Station road is earmarked for some big changes under the neighbourhood plan anyway, so this could work in with it.

Green = Indro Terminator
Purple = Through Inbound (Eg 444, Future Cenenary BUZ etc)
Blue = Through Inbound.

^^

How about putting the through-route stops on Westminster Rd? It might make the interchange slightly easier without the hill.

longboi

Its not, I was just thinking in terms of connectivity to the station. Looking at street view now though, Coonan St probably would be easiest.

Hi Gazza - I don't use the bus anymore but at one time I used it every day through this area and it is a total pain. I think your plan is extremely good and would resolve a lot of issues in this area and you should be working for Queensland Transport mate. Well done I'm in awe!  ;D
