Nightlink stops

I would have to say that the recent changes have almost certainly reduced patronage on Nightlink services.  Also, removing Ann St stop 216 from the pick up run had a permanent negative effect.  I understand that the latter change was done as so many people crowd the stop that it was deemed unsafe.

Perhaps the solution is to have several routes still on the former Warner St + 216 stopping pattern, with others leaving from Brunswick St but also serving somewhere on Gipps St.  May not be popular with the drivers if they have to maneouver across more lanes to get on to Ann St, I suppose.  My theory would be that there wouldn't be many cars around at these time, other than taxis, although it may not work out that way.

Actually, if the N310 & N330 started their outbound pick up runs from Eagle St, then George St, stopping at the Valley last at the current Valley Metro stop, that seems to sort this issue moderately efficiently.  N330 should continue the inbound pick up at Normanby, of course.  That means you have to get it running inbound rather than outbound, so a bit of an inconvenience for the few affected pax.  Not compared to the current major inconvenience of needing to go via the city from the Valley to Gympie Rd.

These sorts of things may increase the requirement for security, by dispersing the stops a little.  So TL may not be keen on these ideas.  Although the N199 to New Farm still needs to come on Warner St

NIGHTLINK has overall, been a great success - what the problem with QR is that they never got serious about it I don't know - actually, I do know, but I've given up on QR ever stepping beyond the 1960's in mental outlook!

Nightlink Bus Services - could in truth be doubled in service numbers - they are that popular!  30min services are now feasible on pretty much every route!

Also, one of the strange rules about Nightlink, only a boffin could dream it up, is that they will only pick-up from certain suburban stops - it's almost 2011 folks - you pick-up from designated xpressbus/buzz stops as required 24/7 all along the route.

I agree. 30 minutes for nightlink might be one way to go.
There are so many different improvements though.

What is really missing is a standard framework to say whether an improvement stays or go. Or maybe there is one at TL, and we just don't know about it.
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

I don't know if there is anywhere in the world that does its late night PT with trains.  New York, maybe.  Perhaps for long distance services such as to the Gold Coast.

They have the half hourly services in December.  But still, the major problems is the coverage.  Still no N150 or N444!  Why not?

Every time they have messed with the Nightlink stops they have made the service worse.  Not serving stop 216, now not coming from Warner St.  Seems to be the way things are done in SEQ.

A great city is not just about population - that certainly helps - but the people are here and are coming in Brisbane/SE Qld - what's really still missing is the attitude!

I'd like to see 24/7 trains on select routes and 24/7 BUZ bus routes over the next say 3-5yrs.
