Greenslopes hospital transport - and courtesy buses

I've been visiting Greenslopes hospital every day the last fortnight. I've been driving, because according to Translink's website, PT to the hospital is dreadful - 1 bus per hour, less at weekends, and otherwise a longish walk, uphill in one direction.

Then finally yesterday I found out that the hospital runs a courtesy bus from the Greenslopes busway to the hospital and back - which opens up a whole range of PT. Bliss. a pity it took me over a week to discover this (and there's no signage at either bus station or hospital).

But it made me think.  How many similar 'courtesy bus' arrangements are there?  Somebody once mentioned one to the Port of Brisbane.  I think there is one to Holy Spirit on the Terreace.  UQ has  bus running from St Lucia to Gatton.  And so on.

How could they be incorporated in the Translink website?  There may be problems with access - I have to sign a form saying I'm staff or visitor to take the bus (for insurance?). But it would have saved me a week of peak hour congestion.

It depends, does this courtesy bus run to a timetable or is it a give them a call when you get there thing? If its a timetable, then it should only take a phone call and some work on behalf of TL and it could be added into the JP. There would probably need to be a note about it being for Hospital staff/visitors only and not covered by Translinks ticketing (though from the sounds of it, the bus was free). If its the second then perhaps when you plug in "Greenslopes Hospital" into the JP it could pop up with an note saying that there is a courtesy bus provided by the hospital from the busway and give the phone number to call or something.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

No timetable, Golliwog, but a circular route arriving every 15 minutes or so at bus station.  You can book a pickup from Coorparoo Railway Station as well. You need to sign a sheet saying you're a visitor or staff of the hospital. It's free.

Your suggestion of a pop up on the TL website is just the sort of thing I had in mind.

It is also only a 10 minute walk from the busway station to the hospital for the able-bodied.

The port of brisbane one you mentioned is no longer done afaik, One of the companies ran it for its employees but the uptake was low on it so it got axed. IIRC someone mentioned it left from a close by train station but people generally still had to transfer from another service to that train and most weren't bothered and found it easier to drive.

A shuttle was being provided to St Andrews in Spring Hill - in fact the times for it appeared in the journey planner a while back.  Definitely not in there anymore, however I am not certain if that means it is operating or not.

The Spring Hill Loop bus provides a service during the week, but nothing on weekends and holidays, when it is really needed too of course.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
