Rail Flood Recovery

Led by Mr Scurrah and his senior management the highly professional and dedicated efforts of Queensland Rail, management and staff in maintaining rail operations within the constraints imposed by the flooding and the safe operation of the rail network must be commended.
The efforts to return services have been hampered by actual flood damage to the network, the avaliability of staff either isolated and unable to report for duty or attending to the more personal needs of having themselves become flood victims.
That these highly dedicated workers led by a professional and committed management have been able to restore and maintain any services under these conditions has been remarkable in itself, but the actual recovery with services operating on all lines with the exception of the Ipswich line west of Darra which will be in all probability in service on Monday morning together with the early opening of Darra to Richlands to relieve a badly damaged road network is a story that will go down in the book of almost imposible achievement and should be acknowledged as such.

Overall a great job.

There some Bowen Hill extras inbound from Darra as well.  This greatly assists as buses are being held up so pax are not waiting that long at Darra for the next rail service.  These extras break the one hour timetable gap into 30 minutes.  These extras are running at the moment, an extra that left Darra at 11.19am just passed my place a few minutes ago.

Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
