Tiger Airways delivers an Easter boost for the Sunshine Coast

Tiger Airways Flight TT252 from Melbourne will touch down on the Sunshine Coast tomorrow, signalling the start of a regular route which will bring up to 58,000 visitors to the region over the next 12 months.

Minister for Tourism, Jann Stuckey, said the additional four weekly flights would help meet demand from Victorians wanting to holiday on the Sunshine Coast.

"Victoria is a key interstate market for the region, with more than 40 per cent of interstate holiday visitors to the Sunshine Coast hailing from the Garden State, according to the latest National Visitor Survey," Ms Stuckey said.

"The new Tiger Airways' flights are perfectly timed to deliver a boost for the region in the lead-up to the Easter holiday period."

Ms Stuckey said Tiger's return to the Sunshine Coast was the result of a great partnership between the airline, Sunshine Coast Airport, Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd and Tourism and Events Queensland.

"Through this partnership, we will also be launching a marketing campaign in May to encourage Melburnians to take a break on the Sunshine Coast during the wintry months," she said.

"Tourism is one of the four pillars of the Queensland economy and aviation access is vital to increasing visitor numbers to our State."
