SEQ: The Shorncliffe line requires 15 minute frequency now

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters calls for a 15 minute service frequency on the Shorncliffe line (1).

"Whilst the Shorncliffe line beyond Northgate is not the busiest line on the system at present, the poor anti-public transport service frequency is clearly a  major factor in this."

"An upgrade is also necessary to remove Albion, Woolloowin, Nundah and Toombul from the stopping patterns of the Caboolture line trains without reducing the service below the current level. Frequent services to and from Shorncliffe would be the all stopping services on this section."

"This change is also necessary to implement the promised 'UrbanLink' and 'ExpressLink' plans on these lines.  It is hoped that this will be included in the coming timetable, however this timetable nor the previously indicated community consultation for it has not been announced yet."

"While there would be little recovery time at Shorncliffe possible on current operating practices, changeover crews would change this.  Terminating short at Sandgate as a matter of course would be a missed opportunity though."
