Off peak express to serve Oxley?

I think there is a strong argument for this.  It would allow 101+102 truncation combined with 104 extension to have the feeders connecting to the faster services, without losing the single change between Ipswich and the 104.

skippy

Would rather not slow down the expresses, however if another stop is added I think Toowong is more worthy than Oxley. Toowong has a number of office blocks within close proximity and buses to UQ.

Generally speaking, I am against any differentiation between peak and off-peak rail stopping patterns (and to the furthest extent possible, bus stopping patterns).  KISS principle.

The bus network can be reengineered better to match the rail patterns rather than introducing "route" variations.

So then would the 104 run in to Darra?

If there is a definite need to connect South Brisbane to Ipswich which couldn't reliably be achieved with 2 transfers.

Would changing at Indooroopilly for a revised 105 be faster (a la current 108)?

It could at that.

I'm assuming that you don't like the current arrangement on the Gold Coast line of extra stops at Loganlea, Coopers Plains and Park Road during off-peak?

Not especially.  It is a poor substitute for an outer Logan/northern Gold Coast express.

One of the big problems with the Loganlea stop on the GC trains is that it encourages lots of P&R at Loganlea to the disadvantage of Bethania Kingston/Woodridge.  Many people rather drive (even backwards) to get an express train to South Brisbane or the city.

Ideally I'd like to see 4 levels of service on this line, although I know it's currently impossible given the infrastructure.  I wonder if this could even be done with quad to Kuraby and triplication to Loganlea?

1. Express Park Rd to Helensvale then all to Varsity Lakes stopping at Loganlea & Beenleigh (yes, even in peak hours, I think there's enough trip generators there to warrant it - University, TAFE, Logan Hospital, all of which are expanding.
I honestly don't see the point in stopping at Coopers Plains, but I think Park Rd is important for interchange (unless the same interchange can be done at South Bank without missing a train, I guess it depends on how it's timed.  Every 30 minutes, every 15 peak.  I don't think stations south of Helensvale will see as much proportion of the traffic post-GCLR.

2. Express Park Rd to Kuraby then all stations to Helensvale.  Every 15 minutes

3. All stations to Kuraby every 15 minutes

4. All stations to Moorooka every 15 minutes.

So with this in place, Dutton Park - Moorooka would have trains every 7.5 min.  All other stations would have services at least every 15 minutes, with certain key stations having extra (Kuraby & Beenleigh every 7.5, Loganlea & Helensvale 6tph (but not every 10 minutes, there would be gaps of up to 15).

Actually, there is an issue with this in that the disability access would be mediocre.  While you can get out of the station in a wheelchair, you then need to traverse a fairly narrow and fairly steep footpath to get down to the bus stop.

If there are 4 tph all stations to Darra/Richlands/Springfield Central then I do not think that the express services to Ipswich/Rosewood should service Oxley. Every stop is an added minute plus the opportunity to add another minute's padding.

Inala bus services could feed Darra.

Would commuters from beyond Ipswich want to stop at Oxley?
