QLD Ministers doing work experience

As some may or may not know, Bligh decided it would be good idea if all here ministers did a voluntary work experience thing. So Rachel Nolan did it in a meat abattoir..... Am I not the only one that thinks they should be doing it in a field related to their portfolio?

Imagine Ms Nolan as a QR CSR for a day.....

No not really. I was surprised they even did this.
Pollies get panned all the time, it seems nothing short of public crucifixion in King George Square will satisfy people's general dis-satisfaction with them.

That aside, I think the work experience will be handy. I'll leave it to others to guess why that might be!
15 minute off-peak train frequency, and public transport in general is what will be the issue for me.

Seriously, it is indefensible and inappropriate that a city like Brisbane has 30 minute off peak train frequency.
And embarrassing that Perth manages to have double the frequency off peak. So much of my time is wasted sitting
at railway stations waiting for infrequent trains to turn up.

It's almost as bad as being stuck in peak hour congestion, but off peak!

IMHO not happy about Airport Link, which is a very real threat of sending the good Airtrain bankrupt.
What is the purpose of that?

Is a day's work experience for pollies a bit of a gimmick?  Yes.  But it does have some relevance, say, when a politician sleeps out under the stars to highlight the plight of the homeless.  In Ms Nolan, we have a Transport Minister who is passionate about her portfolio, is prepared to listen and, to the extent that she is able, do things for public transport.

Remember, one of her colleagues chose to do a day selling stuff at Bunnings, but our Ms Nolan decided to give it her all and get among the blood and guts of a slaughterhouse boning room.  I doubt if many of us would have the stomach for it.

Maybe that tells us she is not afraid to let the fur fly in the Cabinet room when discussions turn to preparing budgets for big ticket items like the CRR.  Let's hope so!  Some dollars will be floating around after the QR National sell-off.
