Two young women were violently assaulted in the car park of a south Brisbane train station before their car was stolen last night.

The women, both aged 21, were returning to their car at the Coorparoo train station about 9pm when they were approached by a man and a woman.

The woman demanded the keys to the white Kia hatchback.

When the owner refused, the woman punched her in the face then grabbed her by the hair and hit her head on the bitumen.

''The second woman was punched as she tried to help her friend,'' police said in a statement.

The attacker stole the car keys and then drove off with her male accomplice in the stolen vehicle.

The 21-year-old owner of the car suffered a broken nose and facial injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexander Hospital for treatment.

The entrances to the car park are monitored by CCTV cameras, although it is not known if the attack was filmed.

The man was described as being 170 centimetres tall, with a dark complexion and sandy, blonde hair.

He was wearing a cap, jeans and a blue t-shirt, police said.

The woman was wearing light blue jeans and a white singlet and wore her long black hair in a ponytail.

Police are searching for the stolen car.

Investigations are continuing.
