First day of normal services on the two recent additions to the busway network I took the opportunity for a quick tour!

Caught EMU73 to Park Road, bus  to UQ Lakes, UQ Lakes to Buranda, Buranda to Roma St, Roma St to RBWH.  RBWH back to Roma St.

Caught the 333 outbound from Roma St and Inbound from RBWH.  Overloaded both directions at 4pm!

Boggo Road bus station was virtually deserted when I went there (around 3pm).  Used the go card constantly no problems except I had to request for the reader to be activated at RBWH.

In the Government's press release for the launch of the Northern Busway to RBWH they said "We want as many people as possible to switch to public transport", and "Earlier this month we confirmed $4.2 million worth of services in the Brisbane region ahead of the busway openings so that even more passengers can benefit from the new busways". Yet upon the opening of the RBWH busway station, there has been no increase in bus services to serve the expected increase in patronage. There have also been no official announcements about future capacity increases on the Northern Busway. The only frequent Buz service from the RBWH busway station is the 333, which is consistently full in and around the peaks, particularly outbound am and inbound pm. (In fact every time I have caught the 333 from RCH Herston in the last month it has either been full, or filled to capacity at RCH Herston station). This situation is going to result in people trying to make the switch to public transport being put off using public transport the first day they try and use it! When will Translink realise that more people would use the Northern Busway (and public transport in general) if the service wasn't such a disgrace.
