SEQ: Nightlink bus services require expansion

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has called for a further expansion of Nightlink bus services.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"At a recent online meeting of RAIL Back on Track members suggested that bus replacement of Cleveland Nightlink train services has been an overwhelming success (1).  This is largely due the increase in frequency it has provided. This policy should be extend to the remaining Nightlink train services on the Ipswich, Beenleigh and Caboolture lines, combined with 2 other routes which are BUZ routes in the day but not served by any reasonable Nightlink service."

"The routes proposed, in order of suggested priority, are:

N345 extending to Caboolture,
N500 to Ipswich,
N120 extending to Beenleigh,
N150 to Browns Plains - this could replace the N111 so long as it serves all busway stations,
N444 to Moggill,
N315 to Redcliffe,
N310 extension to Brighton,
N350 to Eatonvale."

"It is important that the timetables of these routes be co-ordinated on the inner parts; the N200 and N250 should combine to provide a half hourly frequency as far as Carindale shops, N150 and N555 could combine to provide a half hourly frequency as far as Garden City, although it could also be done such that the N130, N150 and N555 give a 20 minute frequency as far as Griffith University, N444, N464 and N500 should combine to provide a 20 minute frequency as far as Indooroopilly, N310/N315 should combine to provide a half hourly frequency as far as Sandgate High."

"The above changes would help Nightlink to cover nearly all of Brisbane.  It also would allow for more rail services during normal operating hours as well as providing an increase in service frequency of public transport overall.
