EDI Rail Expansion

Some time ago, I noticed during my trips to Maryborough that EDI was building a new shed - complete with rail access.  This shed has now been in operation for some time.

Now they're expanding again.  But they don't have any more room on the top of the old river bank, so now they're expanding below it.  The only way to do this is to create another branch off the line in Kent Street - making another 2 level crossings (Kent Street and Guava Street).

You can see the works being carried out on nearmap - with the latest aerial photos taken on 13 July:  http://www.nearmap.com/?ll=-25.542669,152.708384&z=18&t=k&nmd=20100713

Not clear on the map - the line of trees between the new area and the current sheds is where the old river bank is.

If you zoom in to Kent St, you'll see where they're putting the points in and creating the branch to the new area:  http://www.nearmap.com/?ll=-25.543337,152.709799&z=20&t=k&nmd=20100713

What's the bet we'll see this expansion opened just before the next state election with the announcement that EDI Rail has won the tender to build the "new generation" trains!
