Hi all,

I was just having a look at the Citytrain Wikipedia article - which is very informative.  (Far more informative than the Citytrain website!)  Not sure whether it's been discussed in here before.

Anyway I noticed that according to the article, the order placed in 2005 was for 16 IMU's and 8 SMU's.  The article appears to be fairly up-to-date.

The total number is 24.  I thought there were supposed to be 44 trains on order?

The SMU article also indicates that they will be used on the "Ferny Grove, Caboolture and Beenleigh Lines".  Does that mean those on other lines (including Shorncliffe and Ipswich) have to survive with no additional services?

Also of interest is the map of extensions which includes Springfield, Redcliffe, Sunshine Coast and Coolangatta.

I realise that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone - but with such detailed information that would only be available to someone "in the know", the article looks credible.

Oh cool... phew!

I wonder what the final breakdown of SMU / IMU's is.

Hopefully the person with the inside knowledge who wrote the Wikipedia article will update it.

Generally a good article though.

The first order of 24 three car sets was as stated above, 16 IMU and 8 SMU.  Not sure what the additional  20 three car units will be but trying to find out.

Cheers

Further advice suggests another 6 IMU, 14 SMU, then overall 22 SMU, 22 IMU.

Still to be confirmed (officially  ::) )
