With a higher diverge speed?  Or are they just replacing life expired components?

ozbob

Standard crossings, just replacement by the looks of things.

Which isn't really an upgrade, I'm afraid.

mufreight

While it is not replacement with higher dirvinging speed turnouts it is an upgrade in that the crossings are being realigned and replaced with heaver components on concrete sleepers.
Pedantic nitpicking does not diminish that this is an upgrade.

somebody

So, an upgrade in the sense of lower maintenance rather than better operationally then.

mufreight

An upgrade is an upgrade for whatever reason, as for higher speed turnouts one look shows that there is not sufficent room to replace the previous pointwork with turnouts with a longer lead and a less angle.

Golliwog

Do you really need a high speed turn out anyway? It's right after/before the station depending which way you're going so the trains will be going slow anyway.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
