As the subject heading says - Translink has taken out ads in the Mx today - Ipswich rail line closed Saturday 1 May until Last train Monday 3 May. Express buses running from corinda to willowbank. The bus solution looks more comprehensive than other years. But still one has to ask how do they continue to target this significant event as well as other ones - let's hope they don't cancel trains at Ipswich cup time again.

Understand the frustration.  The labor day weekend is one of the few opportunities that presents to implement the new signal system Corinda to Darra. It gives them a 3 day window.

There are much better planned bus services for the car event this time around as you have identified Mozz.  Express buses to the event from Corinda, and Ipswich and the normal rail bus substitution Corinda to East Ipswich.

One issue was that it was not going ahead at one stage (off then on again) and the long construction weekend was originally planned taking that into account.  As I understand it, Ipswich Council, and the event organisers have been active in the negotiations for the transport plan.

At least it seems much more comprehensive, but in the long term, getting the work done on the Corinda to Darra section is of vital importance to the network. Obviously it will be disruptive to some extend, but with express buses running from Corinda directly, that seems like quite a good idea.

What about the Queen's Birthday, Anzac Day and Easter long weekends??

ozbob

Anzac Day and Easter too early.  A certain stage has to be reached, remember this weekend has been planned for some time and the car races were cancelled at one point.

Queens Birthday too late.

The arrangements for the bus this year are a lot better, so at least there has been an effort.
