My PROPOSED 602 Routing via Kawana Town Centre:

Instead of the 602 sharing the Nicklin Way with the 600 and 605 as they currently do, I propose the 602 travels along Kawana Way via Kawana Town Centre, alongside with the weekday only 601.  Currently the Kawana Town Centre area doesn't have any buses on the weekends, diverting the 602 would fix this.  Looking at google maps, this would not affect current travel times as it would be traversing Kawana Way instead of the Nicklin Way on my suggest route diversion.

On a related note, investigate some 602 short running - Maroochydore to Kawana Shops via SC Private Hospital and Karawatha Drive.  I understand some people in the Mtn Creek area would catch that bus more if it went more than hourly as of current.

And on yet another related note, I propose the 607 which also traverses the Kawana Town Centre (turns off at Lake Kawana Blvd) be rediverted back onto the Nicklin Way, as frankly the Uni Student catchment is low.   Having the 607 travel up the Nicklin Way before turning off at Kawana Island Boulevard would increase the walking distance/catchment of the Uni Students in the Kawana Area. The 602 will take over 607's duties of serving this area.

In my uneducated opinion, I've have always thought that the 602 should be split into several different routes.  It just seems such a long trip.

Like the 250?  :D

I don't think its significantly longer than the 600, especially now the Nambour and Bli Bli leg has been separated out.

I did say 'uneducated' :D.  Slight difference with the 250 where I have local knowledge from using it on a regular basis ;).

A number of passengers on the Caloundra end of the 602 which is not covered/not within walking distance of the high-frequency trunk route 600 do catch this service to Maroochydore, so splitting out won't be a great idea.

Once Kawana TC is actually developed, this version of the 602 could even have a comparable base frequency to the 600.

My take on a frequent network for the Sunshine Coast would be:
- 600
- 602 (plus eventual extension to Palmview)
- 607
- 610
- 615
- 616 (plus eventual extension to Palmview)
- 620
- 626/627 combined (resequence for an even 15 minute frequency between Sunshine Beach and Tewantin)
- whatever will connect Caloundra South to Caloundra

I'd agree with that, possibly minus the Palmview extension for the 602 (big backtrack on that one).  I'd tack the Palmview extension from Caloundra onto the 607.

615 pretty much relies on Rail Improvements (judging by the State Gov's record) probably in 20 years (which later gets pushed out to the year 2956).

Whoa, sorry – what you said is in fact what I meant re ther 607.  Bit of a mix-up.

I think that there is a good case for having a roughly half-hourly 615 which terminates at Sippy Downs and just having selected services go to Landsborough to meet each train.
