Off peak airtrain services post Varsity Lakes extension

It looks like there is to be a 33 minute dwell at Varsity Lakes when it opens.  That means for every return service between the Airport and VL, something like 40 minutes of the crew's time is wasted in excessive dwells.  If QR/TL can't or don't want to cut fat out of the timetable, then I think they should talk to airtrain about giving them a good price to up the frequency to 15 minutes.  That would only cost QR a small amount of the crew's time, electricity and some wear.  With airtrain patronage currently running at around 5000/day on forecasts of 6000/day I'm sure that airtrain would be reasonably keen to improve off peak frequency.

Of course, you could extend every other train from Cleveland, but that would likely complicate it too much.

For some reason I seemed to remember an extra long dwell time at Robina to allow for the Varsity extension.  But looking at the timetable, it's only 13 minutes.  Add to that the 5 minutes each way to Varsity and you either have a dwell time of 3 minutes or 33 minutes.

Train crews not only need to change ends but also have human needs such as meal breaks or to attend the toilet, believe it or not they are human not machines hence the dwell or layover times.

Yes, but they don't need a meal break after every 75 mins of work.

But do QR have the sense to give the crew their break during the 33 min dwell time at Varsity Lakes?

I'm sure the union would have a fit if they tried!  By the time you change ends etc, that would a break less than 30 minutes.  Which isn't appropriate.
