SECURITY cars will shadow Brisbane City Council buses on a north Brisbane suburban route after a recent spate of rock attacks.

The council has been forced to supply a security detail for the 330 route, which runs between Taigum and the CBD, after attacks in recent months.

Buses will be escorted on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through Chermside and Bracken Ridge.

Public and Active Transport chairwoman Jane Prentice said the move would cost $36,000 a month but the safety of passengers and drivers was paramount.

Southside buses have also been targeted.

Under the plan, if a bus is hit the driver will turn on the hazard lights to alert the following security vehicle.

I guess the 330 won't be getting the BUZ treatment whilst that sort of thing's still going on.
