The TransLink-ification of QR Citytrain continues.

The service disruptions timetables and other notices are now embedded TransLink links.

Not necessarily a bad thing providing TransLink actually provide 24/7 timely updates.  Maybe it is QR Citytrains doing the updates for TL now?

The link on the QR Citytrain web site for train timetables takes you to this page  http://jp.translink.com.au/TransLinkstationTimetable.asp

Link left (timetables) on the that page to get the PDFs  --> http://www.translink.com.au/tt_results.php

Since the changeover with the embedded links, I have noticed we no longer have timely updates of issues on the web sites as we did when QR Citytrain had their own.  It would be a reasonable expectation to expect a change to endear improvement rather than a backward step?

Media Release 6 November 2009

SEQ:  Web site changes confuse commuters

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has said the linking of the TransLink alerts on the QR Citytrain web site has resulted in a lack of timely and accurate information for rail commuters (1).

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"The QR Citytrain web site has had a very responsive alert system which has been highly valued by rail commuters.  Recent changes to cease the immediate QR Citytrain web site updates and link directly the slow TransLink alerts is a backward step."

"Early yesterday morning for example, when problems were mounting on the rail system it was only by QR Citytrain erail updates and on radio that commuters were informed in a timely manner."

"It would be a much better responsive system if the TransLink web site linked the QR Citytrain updates, not the other way around.  Change is meant to represent improvement not failure."

Track of our tears

A web site addition is flagged in this article ...  timely updates across the entire service period is desirable.
