SEQ:  Extra rail services welcome

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has welcomed the announcement of some extra peak rail services on the Ipswich line to provide commuters with more options for travel during the works associated with the Go Between bridge (1).

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"RAIL Back On Track is grateful for the support by Brisbane City Council for some extra rail services.  Thanks to TransLink for their coordination and QR Passenger for the prompt introduction of the services."

"Frequent, accessible and affordable public transport drives increasing public transport utilisation.  Money spent on public transport is returned as savings many times over as a reduction in congestion costs, lessened environmental impacts and savings in health costs."

"In the longer term we hope that these extra rail services can be permanently placed in the timetable."
