Ipswich road is a major bus and truck route the suffers a bit of congestion.
Should some services use Fairfield road, be diverted onto the busway (via PA) or buslanes?

There is another tunnel  :o  entrance/exit on this road as well, unfortunately only access to Bowen Hills, so not really useful for PT.

All our major roads should have a bus lane both ways even if this means there is only a sigle lane for cars.  This will greatly improve bus reliability and also allow buses to do 3-4 route runs instead of being stuck in traffic and only achieve 1 or 2.  Yes this steals road space from cars but 1 bus = 40 cars.  It can be done qucikly and easily and be monitored remotely using the same technology as he Gateway Bridge.   :-t

Ipswich road is a major truck route. The constant load can also distort and damage the roadway.
Why do so many trucks use Ips. road? Can't they get onto the SE Freeway?

Bus lane or a special transit lane (Buses/Trucks/Taxi etc) might be appropriate. Combining some routes into a BUZ might be an idea, right turn at PA/O'Keefe St and enter the SE busway.

I don't know if there's a better way for a truck to get between the Ipswich motorway and the city.  The only alternative would be the Western Freeway.  Not completely sure that's where all the trucks come from though.

But regarding the buses, I think the Ipswich Rd buses should be re-routed to use the O'Keefe St portal of the Boggo Rd busway (otherwise why was it built?).  How many lights would that save?  It's a shame they need to stop on the street, but I don't think it can be helped.
