THIS is southeast Queensland's most disliked bus route - racking up more complaints by commuters against bus drivers than any other last year.

The 444 route from Bellbowrie to Brisbane City tallied 163 complaints from irate commuters last year, more than 25 of them in November.

The complaints, which have not been broken down, would have included problems with rude or aggressive drivers, fare disputes, and complaints about drivers who failed to pick up passengers.

Commuters on the route, which runs every 15 minutes to take passengers to the city's western suburbs, said yesterday they were surprised their daily ride topped the complaints list.

Commuter Ken Taylor said that although he was an infrequent commuter on the route, he had never had a problem.

"It is always on time. I have not experienced any problems at all," he said.

But Indooroopilly commuter Henry Ng said he had been rudely treated by drivers on the 444 route.

"Sometimes the drivers are rude to passengers, more often the boys than the girls," he said.

Other routes that recorded a large number of complaints last year included the 375 from Brisbane to Windsor, which received 156 separate black marks, followed by the 199 from New Farm to West End.

Also noted among the worst were the 333 from the city to Kelvin Grove, and the 370 University of Queensland route ? renowned for overcrowding.

The 150 to Eight Mile Plains had 119 complaints last year, including one that said a driver failed to help an elderly passenger after a fall.

No wonder the 370 University of Queensland route gets so many complaints! It never gets to the University of Queensland!

Seriously though, is it really that surprising that the busiest bus routes get the most complaints about drivers? What would be more interesting is the ratio of complaints to passengers carried, but then you'd be expecting a journalist to have basic understanding of numbers.

Maybe they meant QUT?

The worst route (IMHO) is the one that does not exist yet! [109 + 66]

I obviously haven't been putting in enough complaints about the 333!
