Trains out of Darra Saturday for Richlands, 8.41am (Richlands 8.45am), 9.11am (Richlands 9.15am), 9.41am (Richlands 9.45am).

I should be on either the 8.41am or 9.11am from Darra. Aim to catch the 8.27am down ex Goodna.

If you haven't been to Richlands rail, get there early and have a look around.

Great tour!  Thanks to Trackstar Alliance and Queensland Rail for the opportunity to view this exciting project.

15 of us made the tour.    We will hopefully repeat this in around a year.  Trains are due to commence towards the end of 2013, although this is weather dependent to some extent.

Springfield Central

Early bridge works over the Logan Motorway.  This bridge will be 900 metres in length and 15 metres high.

I only saw it as we were leaving, but there's a sign facing towards the bus that says all visitors must report to the site office.  The office is the gazebo that you can see in this photo!  :P

We were I think the first visitors onto that site.  There is a requirement to have designated visitors area, and that was set up so that we were in a 'safe' area.

As the site develops they will set up a more permanent arrangement.

There is a lot happening now.  The piling for Springfield Central is complete.  Some of the early pilings for the bridge over the Logan Highway / Centenary Highway junction complex are in place.

This media clip shows the bridge well --> http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/7a037ddb-83ee-483c-befb-da96213901fb/springfieldlineavi.ashx

Cheers Ozbob, thanks for the update - great project underway, was at the Springfield Masters store a little while back and was staggered by Springfield's ongoing growth!
SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:

Here are a few photos that I took while at the location for Springfield Central.

And this is why springfield got preference over SC line. I feel bad for ipswich as most office growth is going to centre in springfield.

Whats the completion date Ozbob? Mid 2013?
"Where else but Queensland?"

It is planned to that trains should commence towards the end of 2013.  That is subject to change depending on weather and so forth, but I think would be fairly close to the mark.

Very pretty movies. Now I know how to get to the train by bus, car and walking (from where?), but where is the bike cage or lockers? Not pretty enough for a mock-up I guess, but there's lots of cycling in Springfield already. And I know the contractors have to provide facilities. Hopefully not at the wrong end of the car park. I must try to be free for the next tour, and ask a few questions, if they're not too late.

I'd have some faith...Richlands has about 3 different ways of parking your bike. No reason to not see it here, though I reckon Springfield Central would be ripe for a cycle center.

mufreight

bike facilities already all sorted out with input from the consultation sessions, Trackstar has been ahead of the game there and one would think that the plans for those facilities are now cut and dried.
No doubt after the hand over there will be some things that could possibly have been done differently in the opinions of some but it has been as part of the make the station as passenger friendly as possible process that the community consultation was held, to expect changes at this stage is more than unrealistic.
Anyone wanting any information about anything relating to the project should contact Gail Harris at Trackstar, a real lady and more than helpful.   :-t

Let`s hope they`ve learned from the mistakes they made at Richlands and have a drop zone which is more easily accessible and pedestrian access from the car park that doesn`t have to cross a driveway  .
