Noosa Easter free holiday buses - effective 10 April 2009

To reduce traffic congestion and provide additional bus services for the Noosa region during the busy Easter holidays.

TransLink, Sunshine Coast Regional Council and Tourism Noosa will provide free bus travel from Peregian Beach to Cooran (including Sunshine Beach, Noosa Junction, Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, Cooroy and Pomona) over the Easter holidays.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

Hopefully when the amalgamation circus has most of it's issues ironed out, this initiative should be rolled out to all Sunbus services during holiday times as those who travel on the 630/631 Nambour-Noosa Heads aren't able to undertake free rides on these services.

As much as extending the free services to the entire Sunshine Coast bus network (including Route 649) seems a good idea.  There would be problems with doing so.

For example, Route 600 and Route 620 are mainline (Caloundra-Maroochydore and Maroochydore-Noosa) high-frequency (every 15-30 mins depending on time of day) services that already experience crowding during holiday times.  Making those mainline services free during the holidays would put a lot more strain on capacity unless if extra buses were to be acquired (via TransLink).

Traffic is bad enough as it is, you dont want to leave people behind at bus stops either.
