JOSTLING for position alongside other attractions such as Fraser Island and Australia Zoo, The Workshops Rail Museum has made the list of 'must-do' Queensland experiences.

Far North Queensland's Paronella Park was declared the winner of RACQ 150 Must-Do's, after more than 155,000 votes were cast in a public online poll.

The Workshops Rail Museum, Ipswich's sole nominee, finished 46th.

Museum director Andrew Moritz said that it was a great honour to be included in the list.

?Many of these awards are judged by industry, but this was a great opportunity to involve our public,? Mr Moritz said.

?It was great to see so many of our visitors voting for it.?

Mr Moritz said the facility, which opened in September 2002, attracted a wide range of ages.

?It is predominantly families who are obviously looking for entertaining, educational activities for kids,? he said.

?Similarly we get lots of grandparents coming with their grandkids.

?They talk about their experience of travelling by train.?

Petrie residents Richard and Janet Haddon brought along their British visitor Paul Blake to check out the attraction yesterday.

The train enthusiast, made the suggestion on his rail-themed Australian visit.

?It's very interesting,? Mr Blake said. ?We've got a comprehensive national rail museum at York and this is every bit as good.?
