SPRING Bluff is famous for its wonderful displays during the Carnival of Flowers, but this year cafe manager Doug Michael decided to branch out and get involved in a bit of Yuletide cheer.

Mr Michael and caretaker Tess Schultz have spruced up the scenic surrounds with Christmas lights and decorations for three nights of twilight splendour this weekend. The cafe will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5.30 to 7.30pm with an offering of carols on the weekend.

University of Southern Queensland opera performers OperArtistes will perform a range of Christmas classics on the lawn from 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Mr Michael encouraged families and anyone else who might be interested to take a picnic blanket or a chair and a picnic basket and relax at dusk on the rolling green lawns.

?We decided to do something different this year and put Spring Bluff on the Christmas calendar because it's just too beautiful a setting to waste,? he said.

We decided to do something different this year and put Spring Bluff on the Christmas calendar," Doug Michael said.
