These new BIKE LANES didn't last two weeks!

QuoteSan Diego installed "Edge Lanes" (also called "Advisory Bike Lanes") along a short neighborhood block in Mira Mesa, California.  And the people living nearby lost their collective minds.  Here's why these lanes aren't quite as bad as local TV coverage claims.

Comment:This video features diagrams and the claim that there was not enough space to fit everyone on the road, hence this wild road layout.

Except, there absolutely was space. You see, if you removed the car parking on either side of this Gold Coast Drive, you could have put the bike lane into that instead. Actual bike lanes. Not this shared space thing.

It looks like every house on that drive has a driveway and a garage or car port of some sort, so why is mass on-street parking required as well?

Los Angeles THREW AWAY all their RED-LIGHT cameras?

QuoteAt one point, Los Angeles had over 100 cameras to catch red-light runners. Then the city tore 'em all out.  Here's why.

Interesting financial arrangement - because the city could not pay upfront for the expensive cameras, they were leased, with the company that makes the camera earning a split of any fines revenue coming in...
