BRT 'Metro' Manufacturing in Queensland?

Recently there has been a lot of focus on train manufacturing. However, a large amount of Australian PT transport task is also done by buses.

The Brisbane BRT Metro, once operational, is likely to spur investigation into applying this BRT solution in other cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. The Olympics would also expose more people to this technology.

The Brisbane Bus fleet is sourced from HESS, a European Manufacturer. I have not looked closely as to where their manufacturing plants are located, but I would imagine they are in Switzerland and Germany.  These are not exactly low cost countries for manufacture.

It raises the question about whether there would be large future domestic demand for the HESS LighTram 25 and similar vehicles, and what the business case would be for making them in Queensland and then exporting these to NSW, VIC and possibly WA? (Assuming they don't also rush off to make their own plants).

Opportunity??

"Trackless Tram" proposals

These sort of investigations suggest that there would be demand for BRT Metro buses outside of Brisbane.

Geelong Proposals (VIC)

QuoteCommittee for Geelong chief executive officer Jennifer Cromarty said support for electric, zero emission, 'trackless trams' as a next generation public transport solution was growing nationally and internationally and Geelong deserved to be one of the first in the queue for an Australian trial.

Trackless trams would suit our city

Quote"Sunshine Coast and Brisbane city councils in Queensland, Liverpool City Council, Sydney City and Inner West councils in NSW, Stirling, Rockingham, Fremantle, South Perth in Western Australia and the Tasmanian government for Hobart are all actively investigating the trackless tram," Mr Fleming said.
