Brightline Florida (Medium Speed Rail/MSR)

Buried deep in the US IRS Tax Code is a financial instrument called a private activity bond (PAB). See 26 U.S. Code § 142 - Exempt facility bond "(11) high-speed intercity rail facilities" This one line in the IRS Tax Code allows Brightline to finance projects through bond issues that are exempt from some taxes on the interest, similar to some US Government bonds.

That, combined with a very selective project choice approach appears to be driving Brightline's success. Looked around for a timetable as there isn't obvious where it is on their website - very few stops (about 6 in total) and hourly frequency at this stage.

^^It's great that California is really capitalising on the up coming Olympics in 2028 by building new transport infrastructure, unlike Brisbane and Qld.
