No risk in missed stop

This happens from time to time. More recently on the Ferny Grove line and I can recall it happening on the Ipswich line too.

Same thing regularly happens on buses too.

No risk in missed stop, apart from for the employee who has to explain to their boss why they are 15mins late.

According to a letter in MX today the Tuesday evening Gympie train forgot to stop at Fortitude Valley. This is a potentially serious problem as:-
1) There are no other CityTrains beyond Nambour for about 18 hours!
2) The Gympie train would have to be delayed (possibly delaying trains behind it) for the left behind passengers to catch up.
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2007 - 7tph
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2010 - 4tph
* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

Reminds me of a funny story.  A little while ago I just missed a Shorncliffe train one evening at Central.  That's okay because there was a Nambour train that came a few minutes later that usually overtook the Shorncliffe train around Toombul and I could join it at Northgate.  But when we got to Eagle Junction, we just stopped there on platform 4 - after the drive had closed the doors.  A couple of minutes later an outbound train arrived on platform 3 (i.e. going the "wrong way").  A person got off the that train and the guard let her in through his door.

I can only assume that the other train was a (possibly late-running) Bowen Hills terminating train but they ran it to Eagle Junction because this person really wanted to catch the Nambour train.

Needless to say I had a bit of a wait at Northgate for the next Shorncliffe train.
