Citytrain Response Unit finished?

14th January 2021

The Citytrain Response Unit (CRU) https://www.cru.qld.gov.au was established by the Queensland Government on 8 February 2017 in response to the Queensland Rail Train Crewing Practices Commission of Inquiry (Strachan Inquiry) Final Report delivered on 31 January 2017.

A post on LinkedIn by the CRU Chair Jacqui Walters early January 2021 stated among other things that " the CRU finished its work at the end of 2020 ...".

There is nothing on the CRU website ( https://www.cru.qld.gov.au ) that indicates any changes.

The last report published by the CRU (as per website https://www.cru.qld.gov.au/Reports ) was for the April - June 2020 quarter.  Nothing since.  Are there July - September and October - December  Quarter 2020 reports?

According to June 2020 quarterly report, the last published, 32 of 36 recommendations are complete (so 4 incomplete).

The incomplete ones were/are:

10. Target a structural surplus of staff
29. Reporting to Translink and public
35. Provide independent oversight of progress
36A-C. Undertake review of transport governance

What has happened to these incomplete recommendations?

Minister Mark Bailey has the CRU finished?

Will there be any more quarterly reports and/or a final report?

It is very odd that there has not been any announcement by Government with respect to the CRU, but the Chair of the CRU has indicated that the CRU is finished on LinkedIn.

Disappointing that citizens are again not informed properly by the Queensland Government.
